The Contemporary Music Department welcomes singer and performing artist Sandra Marlowe to MCS. Marlowe brings presence, power and sass to the stage. With a background from classical and opera to Broadway and belt to R&B and blues, Marlowe’s foray into jazz debuted center stage in 2012, with a CD release, “True Blue,” garnering national and international acclaim. Another CD in 2020, “The Heart Always Remembers,” featured her skills as a songwriter/producer. Marlowe is an evocative singer with impressive technique and serious “chops,” expressed in the emotional and physical range she brings to each song. Her world-class voice captures audiences, while a warm wit and engaging personality draw musicians and audiences together in soul-revving moments. Marlowe performs at clubs, festivals, events, theaters and arts centers around the U.S., and is a featured guest artist with symphonies and orchestras. A music director and voice teacher, Marlowe advises and produces recording projects for fellow artists, releasing music and media projects under her label, LoveDog! Media. She is the originator and producer of “What She Said/The DIVAS! Concert,” an all-female cabaret presenting women’s perspectives through stories and songs, featuring seven divas from six decades performing five genres of music, singing it like it is!
Register by May 7 to participate, $25 registration fee for non-MCS students ( no fee for Music Conservatory of Sandpoint students). Audience members are welcome to attend, no tickets needed but donations are encouraged.
